Understanding Anxiety

Anxiety Treatment & Coping Strategies

Anxiety affects the mind and body in ways that can feel overwhelming — racing thoughts, tightness in the chest, restlessness, irritability, difficulty concentrating, or constant “what if” thinking. At Still Waters Psychiatry, we help individuals understand the root of their anxiety and build the skills needed to regain calm, confidence, and emotional balance.

A Compassionate, Personalized Approach

Anxiety doesn’t show up the same way for everyone. That’s why our approach is built around your experience — your stressors, your patterns, your lifestyle, and your goals.
We blend evidence-based practices with real-life strategies to help you feel grounded and in control again.

Common Anxiety Symptoms We Treat

  • Excessive worry or overthinking

  • Restlessness, tension, or agitation

  • Racing mind or inability to “shut off”

  • Panic attacks or sudden waves of fear

  • Physical symptoms (tight chest, fast heartbeat, nausea)

  • Avoidance of certain tasks or situations

  • Trouble focusing or staying present

  • Feeling overwhelmed by simple decisions

Anxiety is not “all in your head” — it is a legitimate, treatable condition.

The Process

How it Works

Step 1: Initial Evaluation

Begin by scheduling your initial evaluation. In our first visit we focus on getting to know you, your challenges, and discussing your treatment goals. It’s a safe space to express what you’re going through and what you hope to achieve.

Step 2: Personalized Treatment Plan

We’ll create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals. Whether managing anxiety, stress, relationships, medication, or personal growth, this plan will guide your path to emotional well-being.

Step 3: Meet regularly with your provider

We’ll meet every two weeks to three months, adjusting as needed to support your progress. These sessions help track improvements, refine treatment, and explore strategies to keep you on the path to lasting well-being.

Step 4: Feel at Peace

Together, we will create a treatment plan that truly works for you, helping you move toward lasting well-being.
